Having straighter teeth is no longer as difficult or time consuming to achieve as it once was. With all the advances in dentistry over the past decades, Invisalign® has been developed for both adults and teens. It takes only a few weeks for your Invisalign® treatment to be prepared, and the trays you’ll be wearing are very easy to use.

Your First Appointment

When you first see your dentists, you will have a consultation with him or her about whether or not Invisalign® is the best option for you. A full set of X-rays will be taken, including photos of your teeth and mouth. X-rays of your bite will also be taken. Individuals will then be fitted for their very first custom tray. You will also receive full instructions on your treatments and what to expect in the coming months.

Your Dentist’s Commitment

Dentists are committed to educating individuals on Invisalign® and the advantages of using this method over braces, such as:

  • No wires and no brackets
  • Can remove aligners to eat
  • Brushing and flossing does not change

Invisalign® trays are made of clear plastic that is smooth and custom made for each individual. A series of aligners are made to fit your teeth and they are changed every two weeks. Each aligner will move your teeth just a little bit. Dentists use 3D technology and your measurements to illustrate a treatment plan just for you. Patients use the full series of aligners and by the end of treatment, end up with a beautiful new smile. The aligners must be worn 22 hours per day for best results.

How Does Invisalign® Work?

The aligners you wear during your treatment push your teeth into a straighter position. Your teeth get shifted about a millimeter with each new aligner tray. Each individual’s mouth is different and treatments can be different for each person. Some movements will be right on schedule and others may take an extra week or so longer. It all depends on exactly how much movement needs to take place. Invisalign® aligners work a lot quicker than traditional metal braces. Metal braces could take two years to straighten your teeth, Invisalign® aligners can often do the same job in half the time. Your dentist will set up a treatment plan that is unique to you and your needs.

Benefits of Invisalign®

Whether you have had orthodontic treatments before or not, Invisalign® can help you with:

  • Crooked and gapped teeth
  • Protruding teeth
  • Overbite and underbite problems
  • Crowded teeth
  • Open bite and more.

Invisalign® is a perfect solution for adults and teens. They can also help people who have already had the metal braces that did not seem to do the job properly.

What You Can Expect During Treatment

Your teeth will get straighter throughout the treatment time. Each time you graduate from one set of trays to another, your dentist can see the progress in the movement of your teeth. Orthodontists or dentists will usually give their patients a set of three trays at a time. This way patients will not have to have an office visit for 6 to 8 weeks after a checkup.

Good Dental Health Habits

It is important to keep up your good dental habits during Invisalign® treatment. Throughout your treatment plan make sure you keep your teeth healthy. Your can take out your aligners when eating or when you are brushing and flossing your teeth.
