Custom Dental Crowns in San Marcos

Advanced Dental Proceedures: Crowns

Teeth can’t heal themselves, unfortunately. If you have a cracked or broken tooth, we can help restore your smile with a crown designed and custom-tailored specifically for you. Each crown is designed to be a perfect math over your tooth, so you can smile with confidence.

It takes two appointments to restore a tooth with a crown. In the first any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in fabricating a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, usually of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. During this time a temporary crown is worn. In the second visit this temporary is removed. Then the permanent crown is adjusted as needed and then cemented in place, restoring your smile to its former glory.

Did you know that crowns can also keep your smile properly aligned? If a damaged tooth gets worse over time (which is likely), it may fall out or have to be removed. If you’re missing a tooth (or teeth), other teeth may move out of alignment, which can cause a variety of problems. The issue compounds over time, so the longer you put off having a crown installed when needed, the worse the situation can become.

If you have a cracked, chipped, broken, or decayed tooth, contact Larry D. Molenda, D.D.S. to schedule a consultation. We’d be happy to discuss the procedure with you and answer any questions you may have with your San Marcos, TX dentist!
